How to Get Alexa to Work With Your Nest Camera and Video Doorbells

Are you wondering if your Nest Camera and Alexa are compatible? If so, you’ve come to the right place! Nest Cam is one of the most impressive home automation devices around. It’s battery-operated and has two-way audio. Using an Amazon Echo Show, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet, you can watch footage from your Nest Cam from anywhere. And when visitors arrive at your home, you can engage in two-way conversations with them using Alexa. A pending update will allow you to announce visitors to Alexa through your Nest cam.

As far as compatibility goes, Alexa supports nearly all major smart home hardware from all the major manufacturers. The only exceptions are the Blink and Ring devices. While they are both owned by Amazon, they do not work with Google’s Nest cameras and thermostats. Luckily, both services support Routines and combine devices into rooms. If you’re thinking about getting one of each, here are a few things to keep in mind.

To get Alexa to work with Nest, you’ll first need to connect your Nest and Google accounts. Sign in with your Google account and enable permission for Alexa to access your Nest cameras. Once that’s done, just start using Alexa to control the Nest cameras and video doorbells. You can do this by using your Echo Dot (gen. 4), Echo Show 5, 8, 10, or 15 or a Fire TV streaming device. First, open the Alexa app on your smartphone. Once there, you can search for Nest and select its Google Nest icon.
